What is Otto Admin?
Otto Admin is an application designed to serve as an administrative dashboard for managing and overseeing various aspects of the Otto Parking system. It offers an interface that allows authorized personnel within PT Meta Media Infranusantara, a subsidiary of PT Nusantara Infrastructure, to access and manage administrative information and insights related to the Otto Parking system's operations.
The main purpose of Otto Admin is to provide a comprehensive overview and control center for the Otto Parking system. It allows authorized users, typically company employees responsible for overseeing the parking operations, to monitor real-time data, track parking activities, access financial reports, and gather insights into the performance and utilization of the parking facilities.
Key features of Otto Admin include:
1. Dashboard: A centralized dashboard that presents key metrics, statistics, and graphs related to parking activities, revenue, and occupancy.
2. Real-time Monitoring: The ability to view real-time data about the number of active reservations, vehicles parked, and available spaces within the parking facilities.
3. Financial Reports: Access to financial reports, including revenue generated from parking transactions, breakdowns of payment methods, and trends over time.
4. Data Insights: Visual representations such as charts and graphs that offer insights into parking trends, peak usage times, and revenue generation.
5. Data Export: The ability to export data and reports in various formats for further analysis or record-keeping purposes.

In-depth Explanation of Issues in the Original Design:
The original design of Otto Admin exhibited several critical challenges that necessitated a comprehensive redesign effort. The design issues identified in the original interface stemmed from an incoherent visual layout, convoluted data presentation, and the absence of an intuitive navigation structure. This resulted in a cumbersome experience for users, particularly company employees, who were tasked with extracting critical administrative insights from the interface.
Furthermore, the original design failed to adhere to essential User Experience (UX) principles, such as efficient information hierarchy, visual clarity, and accessibility. As a result, users, primarily an older adult demographic comprising company staff, encountered considerable difficulty in comprehending the data visuals and navigating through the interface. The absence of a user-centered approach and insufficient accommodation for the unique usability challenges faced by this demographic magnified the existing complexities.
Objectives and Vision for Redesign:
The redesign initiative for Otto Admin was guided by a multifaceted vision aimed at holistically transforming the user experience, fortifying the interface's utility, accessibility, and clarity. The primary goal was to restructure the interface to consolidate data visualization within a singular screen, ensuring a seamless and comprehensive access to information for all users, particularly those who faced challenges with technology and visual perception.
The redesign effort aspired to accomplish the following:
1. Enhanced User-Centered Experience: By embracing the principles of Jakob's Law and Clean Design, we sought to establish a user experience characterized by familiarity and coherence. The implementation of Jakob's Law was intended to ensure that users encountered design elements and patterns consistent with their prior experiences in other applications, thereby accelerating the learning curve and minimizing friction.
2. Simplicity & Ease: The redesign aimed to simplify the user journey, ensuring intuitive interactions and optimizing the path to desired information. This encompassed streamlining the navigation, decluttering the layout, and enhancing the overall clarity of data representation.
3. Strategic Implementation of UX Laws: The redesigned Otto Admin adhered to fundamental UX principles, emphasizing the observance of Jakob's Law. This entailed integrating design patterns that users were accustomed to from other applications, rendering the interface more instinctive and user-friendly.
4. User-Centered Strategy: The chosen strategy for redesign was User-Centered Design, where users formed the epicenter of design decisions. By empathizing with user needs and preferences, the redesign aimed to translate these insights into a redesigned interface that harmonized with users' expectations.
In summary, the redesign of Otto Admin was driven by an overarching vision to cultivate an interface that transcends usability challenges and empowers users, particularly the older adult demographic. Research Methodology and User Findings:
In the case of Otto Admin, the redesign process was driven by user feedback and requests for improvements in the application's interface. While a comprehensive UX research study was not conducted, the redesign of Otto Admin centered around the need to efficiently organize and present data within a single screen.
Although not an extensive research initiative, user feedback and observations played a pivotal role in identifying areas for improvement. Conversations with the authorized personnel who frequently interact with Otto Admin provided valuable insights into their pain points, challenges, and desired enhancements. UX Violations, Layout Issues, Typography:
During the redesign process, several UX violations, layout challenges, and design issues were identified within the original Otto Admin interface:
1. Cluttered Data Display: The original design displayed a multitude of data points on a single screen, leading to visual clutter and difficulty in data interpretation.
2. Inconsistent Layout: Elements such as buttons, labels, and data grids lacked consistent spacing and alignment, which hindered visual coherence.
3. Lack of Visual Hierarchy: The absence of clear visual hierarchy made it challenging for users to prioritize and comprehend different data elements.
4. Complex Navigation: The navigation structure was convoluted, making it hard for users to find specific information efficiently.
5. Small Text and Typography: Small font sizes and typography choices affected legibility, especially for users who might struggle with reading smaller text.
